A few times I have been asked what my favorite part of our wedding day was. My answer is always, “I don’t have one specific part bc the entire day was so special and magical..” It’s the easy way out. It was all my favorite.
Truth is - I have a favorite part of the day. We all have favorite parts of our wedding day. You know, these ones; seeing your soon to be hubs for the first time, walking the aisle with your father, your first dance, taking a time out to look at all your guests and absorb the fact their presence is for you and your new hubs, etc…There were only a couple parts that truly moved me, hit home, plowed over my heart and busted through my eyes. One of those moments was made by Jr.

Jr is twelve. She is number two in line of the grandchildren, number one in line to me. I got to live with her the summer she was two; I can’t tell you how many people thought she was mine. At the time it grossed me out, looking back on it now, it makes me proud. She’s my girl. My pal. My blossoming pre teen who has yet to have any walls. And on our day, she took the mic stood front and center and gave a toast – something I had zero clue she was gonna do.

I was so proud of her. And when she hugged my Goose, her new Uncle, the excitement inside of me was off the charts.

And that was one of my favorite parts of the day!
What was your favorite part?

i love this!
ReplyDeleteone of my favorite parts was in the very beginning of the reception to kick off the dancing (after the mother/son, father/daughter, our dances), we had the DJ announce a special dedication to my grandmother who couldnt be there (passed away) so we played harry belafonte - jump in the line (she loved harry belafonte) and everyone did a huge conga line. it was so great!
I loved that part too...of course second to when we got to see you and Goose see each other for the first time...loved it!
