eJewcating - - The Chuppah

After our parents leave us and we haven’t passed out due to dizziness from our 7 circles, we will walk into our ‘house’ of marriage and the ceremony will begin.

In case you aren’t familiar with the term, a Chuppah represents the home that Goose and I will build together.  It consists of a cloth or sheet (in our case a tallit thats been in our family) and 4 poles manually held or not.   It’s open on all 4 sides; those open sides represent or rather symbolize the welcoming of everyone into our home.  This ‘house’ is minus furniture to remind us that the foundation of a Jewish home is the people within it, not the possessions.

Goose and I are aiming for a Chuppah that is rustic chic combined with organic. Funny right - I mean those who know me know there is nothing about me that’s rustic chic let alone organic, HAH!!!   Lets have a look -

I am proud to say this is the single DIY project that we'll tackle.  It seems fitting since its also one with the most meaning.....Goose likes the Chuppah in the first picture, I have to say - - Its my favorite too, aaaahhhh isn't that cute!!!!

Next, we'll learn rings and chat about the ceremony breakdown....isn't this fun!?!?!?
