A. D. A. M. vs A. N. D. R. E. W.

Pronounced – AD um    Meaning – Earth     Origin – Hebrew

This name will always be held close to my heart and, more recently, be a running joke!

Let’s talk the heart - - My oldest brother’s name is Adam.  He is my only ‘full’ sibling.  Adam and I are 2.5 yrs apart and we have been, and continue to be, pretty close.  Growing up we chose individual sports permanently being each others side line cheering squad.  I would spend a ton of time at the pool silently cheering him on as he did flips and twists off spring boards and platforms.  In turn he spent countless hours at the skating rink while I tried to beat Michelle Kwan. We both went away to prep schools and then decided to attend small private colleges two hours from each other, in Upstate NY.  Every milestone of his life I have been a part of and every milestone of my life he has been a part of! Adam will always be close to my heart!

Lets talk the joke - - My father, our wedding photographer, and plenty of friends think I married a man named Adam.   We received gifts and their cards are written, Adam and Marissa…My dad gave a toast at the reception and kept saying Adam this, Adam that, I am so happy and proud that Adam, etc…  Our photographer would give direction to Marissa and Adam.  I have received emails that congratulate Adam and me on a lovely wedding and wish us lots of happiness.

NEWS FLASH - - To our family and friends, I married a man named Andrew – A. N. D. R. E. W.

Pronounced – AN droo   Meaning – Man/Warrior  Origin - Greek

Thankfully, the man I married (Andrew) has a great sense of humor and this has all been fun and games. I am his wife and I know his name. There may be a chance I call him Adam, on accident, [luckily its not the name of an ex  =) ] and when I do I hope we'll laugh and be reminded of our wedding day.

Do or did family and friends keep calling your new husband by the wrong name?
