I am an ‘I love you’ type of gal. I say it to my friends, my family, our dogs, and of course - to Goose. I squeeze it in to almost all phone calls regardless of their length. Do I over use the 3 special words? Not to me!
How many people are ‘I Love You’ types of people? This question has been brewing in my mind for some time - all of a sudden I began eavesdropping on all conversations around me. I was listening to strangers ending their cell chats – every time a colleague ended their personal phone conversation(s) my ears perked up. I began paying closer attention to the way Goose ended his calls or my sister (maid of honor, MOH) ended hers.
After observing long enough I realized if these people were eavesdropping on me - they would think I over use the 3 special words, ‘I Love You.’ Along with being an ‘I Love You’ type of gal I am also a distance gal. For 16 yrs there have been hundreds of miles between myself and my closest friends and/or family - ending a conversation sans an ‘I love you’ felt unfinished. That feeling has never gone away. Whether I’m ending a conversation with Goose, my family, or a friend I always say ‘I Love You.’ And yes - those words hold a different meaning with each and every person I talk with.
In the long run what matters the most is this - - the people I say ‘I Love You’ to say it right back. They get its important – They get me – And from day one Goose has never ended a call unfinished, he’s an ‘I Love You’ type of person too!
